My life has been almost the same for these 2 weeks, and hence I couldn't find any topic to start with. I will be having an aptitude test at NUS tomorrow for the Industrial Design though, which is nothing but to test your aesthetic skills. Sigh, it has been so repetitive for the past two weeks of my life, just work, work work and work. I am starting to get bored of this but what can I do? And by the time I am home it's already at night. And you are asked by some random organisation to do some saigung website like a slave.
Right, so now we have something to talk about.
Being quite adapted to the design industry, there are two things i hated the most when it comes to webpage making- 1) INCONSISTENT IDEA and 2)"ARTISTIC FREEDOM"
1) The first one is something you can't do anything about it. providing website making services is the same as selling something to a customer, the customer is always right, even if he/she is being unreasonable, because you have to sell the thing to him/her ultimately, and hence, the consumer sovereignty. Making a webpage for a customer is quite sian, because you will need them to provide you all the necessary details, and then you will compile all of them and put them into your self-designed webpage. But the problem comes now. The information or the data they gave you are not final and there will always be a lot of changes, be it minor or major ones. And now here comes the big big problem, making those changes are not always as easy as you think, even changing some wording or adding a few more tabs will alter the entire layout and it requires unfair effort to amend the changes. And I seriously think that it's necessary to educate those bastards that such changes are hard and tedious so do not take it for granted.
2) This is perhaps, the most undesirable thing to hear. When you are asked to do a website, the first thing you would want to clarify with your customer is the theme and the style of the website. Often, the customer will give you a specific style with no clear instructions, that's acceptable, at least you still have a clear path to go. But the ones who acted as if he/she is very liberal will say shits like "oh, it's up to your artistic freedom, please 发挥你的才华". Thanks, you are just clueless of what your website should be. And when i finished the design, he/she would come and see it, and then he/she would give very harsh comments and that would mean a major or complete overhaul is needed! I hate it.
Most of the time, I declined the students' offer for some financial reward. But please, that doesn't mean that you can make utter exploitations on me!
So, people, please be considerate on me.
Sigh, I don't understand why I am actually blogging this when I am having a crisis. I am having heart attack now, so I shall not write anymore, 就此停笔.
